“I worked with Sherwood on a project that was very near and dear to my heart called Covidsitters, a nationwide project that started as babysitting and pet sitting for essential workers, but became so much more. Part of my role was to create virtual classes for the families signed up for our services, and when I asked Sherwood if he would be willing to share his time and expertise to host mindfulness classes, he graciously accepted.

 

Throughout his time with Covidsitters, Sherwood offered classes to both kids and adults, tailoring each individual class to the needs of the participants. Before our classes together, the pandemic felt like complete chaos. Personally, I could not seem to get my bearings or find which way was “up,” and speaking to the families we worked with I knew I was not alone. The early days of the pandemic were overwhelming and chaotic, and I felt completely lost. When we started our Covidsitters mindfulness classes with Sherwood I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I am very grateful I committed to the experience.

 

During our classes, Sherwood took the time to teach us the basics about how our brains process internal and external stimuli, and how they connect our thoughts and emotions to our body and to physical sensations. By walking us through guided meditations and providing mindfulness techniques we could practice on our own, Sherwood helped us begin to understand how to be fully present and sit with the moment at hand.

 

Through slow and deliberate practice this work helped me find some peace; even though 2020 got crazier and crazier, the practice of mindfulness provided stability, consistency, and calm. I would recommend Sherwood to anyone who is ready to find some comfort in the present moment, and to anyone who wants to learn more about the mind-body connection.”

“Sherwood has been a huge influence in my meditation/spiritual practice. I have learned many ways to connect and communicate with others in a non-violent way with Sherwood in a group AND individual setting. Sherwood has many qualities that make me feel calm and centered, and whenever we are together (even virtually) I have a good time and usually feel better about myself. In the last few years, I have dedicated myself to communicating with my whole-heart. A large part of my transformation has been due to Sherwood's diligence, professional opinions, and extreme mindful thoughts. I was able to repair old relationships, strengthen some, and realize some are needed to let go. I have been in a big life change these past 5 years; I am glad that I can call Sherwood an inspiration and a friend.”
